USA - E VISAS FOR ITALIANS TO BE CONSOLIDATED IN MILAN AND ROME

The American Immigration Lawyers Association is reporting that all E-1 and E-2 treaty visa cases will be processed either in Rome or Milan, effective January 1, 2007. Applicants in the Florence and Naples consular districts will be asked to file in Rome, though they may file in Milan if they are residents there or are present in Italy. CANADA: ONTARIO PROPOSES NOMINEE PROGRAM

The Province of Ontario has announced its intention to start a pilot project for a new Provincial Nominee Program. If it moves forward, the Province will designate occupations targeted as "high priority" for accepting potential immigrants. However, it may be preferable for the Federal government to fix the immigration system, rather than continue to allow the provinces to bring immigrants who do not necessarily meet business needs.
